Epping ANZAC Dawn Service
Details
Event information
The Anzac Dawn Service will commence at 6am at the Cenotaph in Forest Park (off Blaxland Road) Epping.
Should rain prevent this service being held at Forest Park there will be a service held in the foyer of The Epping Club.
At the conclusion we will head to McDonalds in West Ryde for breakfast where parents can pick up Scouts. This is the McDonalds across the road from Alpsport. If there are a lot of Scouts, we may need parents to stay and help transport Scouts. Scout leaders can only transport Scouts with express permission (please write on the E1 note) and if there are 3 Scouts in the car.
HOWEVER, Parents are encouraged to join us. People can then proceed into the city for the march with family, if they so wish.
PLEASE eat something BEFORE coming - juice and a muesli bar at the very least - not eating is a recipe for fainting during the ceremony.
Scouting members should bring/wear:
- BEST Scout uniform, freshly washed and ironed including:
o Scout shirt with all badges sewn on
o Fawn coloured pants (Scout belt or dark blue belt)
o Black leather school shoes, shined. (If you don't have black school shoes, black sneakers are acceptable at a pinch).
o Black/ark blue or fawn coloured socks
o Hair ties for long hair (boys included)
o Scout jacket or black/dark blue jacket
o GOOD rain jacket & umbrella if looking like rain
Scouting members can wear Rosemary and/or ANZAC commemorative badges.
Scouting members may ALSO wear their own medal on left breast AND war medals belonging to relatives - worn on right breast.
Scouting members with BP Award, Queen Scout/Venturer Peak Award, ASM and/or Grey Wolf can wear these awards' woggles and/or medals.
Scouting members with service medals can wear these medals on ribbons around their necks.
As we approach the 100th Anniversary of the start of WWII it is important to commemorate the actions of those who have allowed us to live the way we do.
This activity qualifies Scouting members for the annual "Their Service: Our Heritage" badge.
